Vegan YumYum is a sleek looking vegetarian-theme recipe and food site. The site is run by a lady call Lolo. The writing style on the site is personal. It feels almost like reading someone’s diary.

This food site appears to have won quite a few awards. This site has a huge amount of recipe covering many styles and cultures. If you think vegetarian cooking is limited, Vegan Yumyum might change your view with regards to that.

Presentation-wise, the entire recipe site is peppered with top quality food photography.

The recipes on the site that I like are Asian styled such as Vegetable Tempura. Of course, this is just my personal preference.


Savvy Vegetarian

Some recipe and cooking sites are not just about food. One such site is Savvy Vegetarian. This site has a larger perspective that is about the concern for the Earth and the environment. So in a way, it is also an eco-friendly site. This site encourages going vegetarian in order to save the Planet.

Savvy Vegetarian has much articles on recipe, cooking and advices. For example,  there is one page about tips to becoming vegetarian. The site presents much information in a question and answer or advise manner. Of course, the site also comes with many vegetarian recipes such as Bean soup, bread and pasta recipes, just to name a few.

It is in our opinion, a very informative and useful food related website.


Fresh Boiled Asparagus

Asparagus is a wonderful vegetable. Originally from the Western Hemisphere, this plant can be grown elsewhere as well. Eating asparagus has many health benefits. It is said to be beneficial to the bladder, gastrointestinal tract and the colon. For women, it helps in reducing menstrual cramps. Asparagus can assist the body in detoxification.

This is a free and very simple recipe for preparing asparagus. Here is the online recipe method:

1. Cut the asparagus pieces at the end of their stem. Clean and soak them in water. Pour away the water.

2. Put the asparagus pieces in a pot. Put in several bowls of water. Add in half a teaspoon of salt. Sea salt will be nice.

3. Boil water in a gradual heat. Allow to boil for a minute or so. Then turn off the heat.

4. Take asparagus out of the pot. Discard away the water.

The asparagus is ready for serving. This recipe should take only a while to prepare. It is worthwhile as the benefits of asparagus are quite significant.

Fat Free Vegan Kitchen is owned by SusanV Jackson who is a health conscious vegetarian. Her website excels in terms of recipe contents. Each recipe is meticulously written and accompanied by mouth-watering photos of the dish.

The recipes are systematically assigned to different categories. These categories include recipes by region, desserts and fruits, lunch and sandwiches, breakfast and breads, main dishes, salads, appetizers and much more.

The range and scope of recipes on that website is just amazing. The recipes that we especially like are ‘Irish White Bean and Cabbage Stew‘ & ‘Fresh Lima Bean and Herb Soup’.
